Q:  What is “CNC”?

A: “CNC” stands for Computer Numerical Control. A computer will convert a design produced by Computer-Aided Design software (CAD), into numbers. These numbers are used as coordinates of a graph, which determines the movement of the router tool. This process will allow you to design almost any 2D creation that you can imagine, and use a CNC Machine to carve/cut it. You can also import 3D designs and have them carved, creating beautiful 3D results.

Q:  I have no previous CAD/CNC experience; how hard is it to learn?

A:  You have come to the right place! Our vision, when creating our training resources, was to design them with you in mind. We begin with the very basics, walking you through the functionality of VCarve Desktop, with the assumption that you have never used a CAD software before. Machine operation is very simple, and we have created many resources to walk you through this, as well. You will be a pro in no time!

Q:  What materials can an ICONIC machine carve?

A:  In terms of substrates that we recommend for your ICONIC CNC machine, you can use virtually all wood and wood byproducts (such as MDF or fibreboard) and most plastics (acrylic, teflon, ABS, PVC, etc.). Our machines also includes a variable-speed Spindle, which makes it suitable for non-ferrous metals, such as brass, aluminium, and other similar metals. If you are even unsure about a particular material, please feel free to contact us!

Q:  Where is ICONIC based out of?

A:  Our offices are in London, Ontario, Canada, however we are frequently on the road; we may be answering your phone call/email from the airport, a coffee shop, or the beach (hey, we all need a vacation now and then). Our warehouses are located in Seattle (WA), Eaton Rapids (MI) and London (ON).

Q:  What countries does ICONIC ship to?

A:  Currently, all ICONIC products are available to ship throughout Canada and the United States. We will also consider shipments to other countries as well, however we would need to provide a special quote. Please contact us for more information.

Q:  What payment methods are available?

A:  Our online store accepts all major credit cards, including MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. If you would like, you also have the option to make a purchase via PayPal. If you are interested in paying by Cheque, need to submit a Purchase Order, or require a Quote from us, not a problem! A:  simplycnc.ca is equipped with a Starfield SHA-256 SSL Certificate, with RSA Encryption. Your safety and security is of the utmost importance to us, and we take it very seriously. If you have any concerns at all, please let us know.

Q:  If ICONIC is a Canadian company, why are your prices in USD?

A:  Many of the products and materials that we use are purchased in USD, so in order to maintain stability around the fluctuating Canadian Dollar, we chose to build our pricing in USD. Don’t worry, we are Canadian, and proud of it!

Q:  My shipment arrived damaged, what should I do?

Q:  Is VCarve Desktop available for OSX ( Operating Software)?

A:  Currently, ArtCAM & VCarve Desktop are only available for Windows. That said, we are big fans of Apple, and we understand if you are, too! The software can be installed on MacBooks or iMacs by installing Boot Camp onto your computer, which will allow you to boot into Windows, when required.

Q:  Which “Machine File Format” (or Post Processor) should I use in VCarve Desktop?

A:  For ICONIC CNC machines, you will use the “Geetech mm (.nc)” or “ICONIC mm (.nc)” file format.

Q:  I installed ArtCAM Express, but the software indicated that it cannot locate my .PAF license. What should I do?

A:  Your .PAF license in located is an introductory email from Jeremy Stevenson. Simply save your .PAF file onto your Desktop, and browse to its location when prompted by the software.
